There's plenty of components to the system you can scan, scan them all to understand how the solar-powered system operates. You'll find the portal inactive at the far end of the chamber, to power it up you'll have to complete a few tasks. The very atmosphere of Dark Aether harms Samus' Power Suit. They unload shots far more rapidly than regular troopers, so try to keep strafing but don't stop firing back. These creatures will take a lot more to take down, just keep your distance and unload Charge Beam shots and missiles into your prey. After meeting little resistance they'll turn your enemies into Dark Pirate Troopers (scan one before attacking). More Ing Darklings will enter the area, their targets being the Pirate Troopers. Dispatch them both to summon yet more troopers, except these ones have a nastier fate to face. Looks like you're not the only one interested in dimension-hopping, inside you'll be greeted by two Pirate Troopers. This room houses the portal used to transfer to Dark Aether, but at the moment it isn't receiving power. Use the Morph Ball and sneak around the Orb Cannon to reach it.Įxit the room via the door beyond to locate a long chamber filled with Luminoth architecture. At the base you'll discover the remains of a Luminoth lying in front of a small alcove where Missile Expansion AW.02 rests. Use the cannon to reach the top of the structure, then wind your way through a small tunnel and drop down to reach the other side. Inside you'll discover a tall structure with an Orb Cannon. Jump up the platforms among the sandfalls and head through the first door you find. Head back outside and drop to the sand pit below. Scan the gate to lower it, then head inside the room beyond to locate Missile Expansion AW.01. Head over to the translator gate across the area, just watch out for the pack of Lumites fluttering about. Return to Mining Station A where you had your first Pirate encounter. Head back to the door you originally entered via, just watch out for the War Wasps making themselves home up above. Exit the room and return to the Agon Temple. Don't forget to scan the Luminoth Lore Projector hidden in an alcove here before leaving. I-Sha grants you access to scan the amber holograms, so there's a few more translator gates you can now open. This will cause Item Transmutation to be less convenient, so you should also make a small hole in the bridge. This Luminoth-made portal leads right into Dark Aether. It is recommended to construct a bridge made of Platforms over the pool of shimmer to make going from one side of the cave to the other easier, as well as prevent most Enemies from falling in and becoming invisible. Also, the Aether is a good place to farm gold critters, as it appears they have a greater spawn rate. You should also consider whether or not the gem obtained from Item Transmutation could be useful or not. A large quantity of gem critters can be found and sold, though it is recommended to only sell a gem critter if the selling price is higher than the gem produced from throwing it into Shimmer. The Aether biome can provide a good alternate source of money for the player if found. These are the only two mobs exclusive to the Aether and its contents. The only naturally spawning mob is the Faeling, but the Shimmer Slime can also be created when a Slime interacts with Shimmer. It's most commonly found a little bit above the layer where lava begins to appear.Īn artificial/player-made Aether biome can be created when 300 blocks of Shimmer are 10 blocks away from the player. Vertically, it can be found in the Underground/ Cavern layer anywhere from 100 to 2200 blocks down depending on the world size. The Aether is located underground on the Jungle side's outer fifth of the world it is most commonly found in the general area under the beach at the shoreline of the Ocean, but can be found far enough inland to be within the Jungle.
